Snow for days!

We got more snow then we have seen in a long time. It shut the city down and we had a snow day (or two)! Normally I would love a good snow day but we have been in this house since last Wednesday. First for sickness and now snow. So needless to say we are ready to get out!

Yesterday daddy went to work and we got busy playing and eating and more playing and more eating. Why do we eat so much when we are stuck inside?

First up breakfast by the window to look at the snow!

Then a little ride in the train Papaw and Grandma Pat brought over!

A little movie watching!

All before 10:30!

Got to love snow days with kiddos. Very different then my college or single years.

When daddy got home from work Aiden got to play outside for just a few min. It was really cold and Ava had to watch from the window. (no picture)

We then made potato soup for dinner and played some more! Looks like we will be doing it all over again today! We may try and venture out today even if its just to Mimi's house.

It was nice while it lasted!

I took Tuesday off the clean the house. I feel like now that I have two I just can't keep up so Tuesday the kids went to Kami's and I got busy. The house looked and smelled so good! For all of a couple  hours right before the two wild ones came home.

Both bathrooms were clean. Both kids rooms were organized. I was caught up on ALL the laundry and the kitchen floor even got mopped! I had candles burning and dinner in the crock pot. It was fabulous while it lasted.

And then this happened that night!

Oh well they had fun and I enjoyed my clean house while it lasted!

What have we been up to you ask?

Oh you know, just both kids got ear tubes the SAME day. Yes you read that right! I really didn’t think twice when the ENT (who just so happens to be a friend of mine who grew up down the street) said “do you want to just do both together” when I sat in her office deciding what day to have the surgery. My response “is that possible”. Come to find out it is and is actually very common especially with parents who have twins. Who knew?!

Ever since that day I definitely get the “are you crazy” look from friends and co-workers! So yes I went ahead and had both kids ear tube surgery scheduled and everything went great. Well except for that one time when both kids were screaming in recovery and throughout the entire hospital as we walked to our car pulling them in a wagon.  That was the one point when I thought I had made the worst mistake ever and that the day was going to be a no good very bad day.

Here is how it all started…..
Tuesday night we had the kids favorite meal (Spaghetti and meatballs) because I needed them to eat really well so they wouldn’t be hungry in the night.  Ava still gets up in the night to eat on most nights especially if she doesn’t get full. Just to be on the safe side I woke her up at midnight and gave her a bottle and said a little prayer that it would hold her over until she woke up. And it worked!
Wednesday morning my mom got to my house bright and early and we got the kids up at 6:30 am. The hospital had told us to bring an extra person since we would have two in recovery and would need to go back and forth between rooms. So glad my mom and Ryan’s dad were there to help! I was really excited because this was our first time at Kosiars St. Mathews. We normally have to go downtown for all our procedures and this made it so much closer. We got checked in and waited our turn. They came and gave Ava her “happy juice” and took her on back and then came for Aiden. When they give the kids the medicine to make them “loopy” I just think it is hilarious. Both cracked us up and we have it all on video!

The procedure is only 8 min so we weren’t waiting a long time. The hardest part was recovery. This was Ava’s first time with anesthetic so we weren’t sure how she would handle it. She got sick a couple of times but seemed fine right before we were leaving (except for the screaming). She was crying so hard I think the nurses were ready for us to get out of there. Once Aiden woke up they discharged us immediately. Aiden is always very fussy after anesthesia so we kind of knew what to expect. He also cried the entire way to the car. They gave us a wagon to pull them in and the looks we got riding through the hospital pulling two crying kids were priceless. But we made it home and for the most part had a pretty good day. Looking back it was well worth it! The next day they were completely back to normal!

Catching up

Nothing really exciting has happened over the past month so I really haven't had anything to blog about! We have had a lot of laying around the house and playing with all our christmas toys. We've had a few friends over to play which is always fun and attended Sophie's birthday party (which I got zero pictures of).

Lana, one if Aidens very best girl friends came over one night while her mommy went to dinner. These kids had a blast! We ordered pizza, made banana splits and watched movies in Mommys bed.

Ryan wanted to take aiden to the boat and RV show. He even got to catch a fish in a pool which by the way he's still talking about!

This little lady has been working on her "tricks". My sister made a point to say that Ava doesn't know as much as aiden did at her age. Second child problems!! So with that we started learning body parts. She knew where her nose was for all of two days. Now she just know where her head is. Oh well we will get there! Ha!

This is how I found Aiden after nap one day. So cute.

We also tried on our new beach hats Aunt Karyl sent us!

And also tried on new spring break clothes to make sure they fit!

I went to the matilda jane release with a friend! And ordered too much of course!

I also started as a rep for shrimp and kids clothes. See previous blog post for details!

And I'll leave you with this! I think it may possibly be a curl! My mom and I are constantly scrunching her hair in the back on hopes of curls. This may be that her hair dried funny but I'm counting it as a curl!!! I can hope can't I!!

Shrimp and Grits Kids

I'm so excited to announce I am the new Rep for Shrimp and Grits Kids. They are a kids clothing company based out of South Carolina. Their stuff is so cute and affordable and the best part is they have boy clothes. Moms of boys can relate!
