Sweet summertime

Summer is here and we are loving it so far. My kids are little fish and we spend most of our free time at the pool. Aiden continues swim lessons once a week and started swim practice last week. He has his first "meet" Friday. Really they will just be swimming at intermission at the big kids meet but it's still fun!
He loves swim practice and sits so nicely and does exactly what the coach says. He has come such a long way in a short amount of time.

This little girl doesn't think she needs any help in the water either. Girlfriend jumps off the side and goes under. Can you say NO FEAR!!

What's so nice about spending so much time at the pool is this!! Oh the naps are great bc she's so worn out.

Aiden also had his first tball game last week. OMG the cuteness! (My sister took this pic. Clearly she's excited bc he has her volley ball number from high school).

And nothing says summer like the fair. Ha. The Shelbyville fair is hilarious but these two loved it and that's all that matters.

This picture of Ava cracks me up. Our friends have a kids potty out by their pool. Ava was so interested and would just get out of the pool and go sit on it. She cracks me up!

A week of firsts!

We have had a week of firsts around our house.

Ava went to the splash park for the first time!

Her face says it all! She loved it!!

She also had her first gymnastics class. Another love! She was in her element! I was nervous about how she would do because she's so shy but she did everything they asked and had a ball doing it. Her favorite was the rings. Girlfriend can already hold herself up and swing.

Last night aiden had his first tball practice   Oh my gosh! It was so cute. He's on the same team as his cousin so that's always fun!

Ava wasn't happy she couldn't go on the field with NaNa (her name for Aiden) and daddy.

Next week is our first swim team practice and first tball game! We are going to be busy but have so much fun!

June Goals

I can't believe May is over and it's June 1st. I'm worried summer is going to pass by quickly.

Here is my recap on my May goals! I loved writing them out hopefully I'll continue this. It also gives me a way to document my month!

May goals

1. Cook 2 new meals for dinner- I actually accomplished this goal! Yay me! I cooked a crockpot chicken recipe and lemon Parmesan pasta. They were both wonderful and I'll be adding them to my dinner rotation!

2. Have a play date with friends- also accomplished. We went to the circus with Abby and Bryleigh!

3. Clean out my closet- this one will continue into Junes goals.

4. Start a book- started one and will hopefully finish next month

5. Watch a movie with Ryan- I had forgotten about this one but last night Ryan came home with American sniper and we started it and finished it last night. Yes it takes two nights to watch a movie. I get tired and fall asleep every single time!

6. Have date night- we were able to get a baby sitter for oaks day and derby day so I'll take it!

7. Have dinner with friends- check! Dinner divas!

8. Fix a dinner for someone just because- I made dinner for my family does this count? We actually come to my house most Sunday nights but I'm still counting it because it wasn't a special occasion.

I must say I'm pretty darn proud of myself. Only one thing I didn't get accomplished this month!  I think I like writing out my goals!! Now on to June goals!

1.  Clean out closet (still on my list)

2. Finish my book- usually Ryan will pick the kids up from the pool after he golfs and take them home to nap. This gives me the opportunity I need to read. Hopefully I'll take advantage of this time!

3. Try two new meals- I'm putting this on here because I really liked making myself try new things for dinner and I need other things in my dinner rotations

4. Spend quality family time- my sister Angie is home for the summer and I couldn't be more happy.

5. Take Ava to splash park- sounds easy but something always comes up and we don't go. I think she would love it.

6. Have friends over for dinner

7. Exercise at least twice per week- I was doing so well with this before my wreck now I need to get back into it. It's not as much as I would like in a week but with t-ball, gymnastics and swim team I'm not sure I'll have a ton of free time!

8. Spend one on one time with Ava. I feel like I do this with aiden all the time because he's at such a great age to take places and enjoys everything right now. This month I want to do something special, just Ava and I.

9. Have date night

10. Schedule a play date

Summer is here!

Lately we have been enjoying the start of summer with family and friends. The pool has opened and we will spend the majority of our free time in the water and I couldn't love it more!

We also went to the circus a couple weekends ago. It was actually an amazing show and I think the adults enjoyed just as much as the kids.

We have had several family cookouts and celebrated me Memorial Day at my grandmothers.

We also bought a new van and signed Aiden up for pre school at a local private school. We have decided to go the private school route for preschool so he can get a Christian foundation for education and we will more then likely continue for elementary school. We really enjoyed our tour and we have a meeting with the head master before we are accepted but hopeful all will go well.

We have a busy schedule coming up. Aiden has started swim lessons once a week and can already swim under water without his floaties. I'm so amazed at how well he is catching on. He also starts t-ball next week and he will be on the "swim pups" swim team at the country club. Ava also starts gymnastics in June. I foresee busy but fun weeks ahead!!

Happy summer!!

Mother's Day

I love being a mom and my Mother's Day day this year was amazing. It started off with the kids sleeping in (as in 6:30 for Ava and 8:00 for aiden) and breakfast from Cracker Barrel  (to go because going out to eat isn't relaxing but eating at home is). We layed around before getting ready for church and watched jake and Mickey and then headed out the door. Both kids were EXCELLENT (which never happens) in church and I came home to brunch on the table thanks to my aunt. We played outside with my family before putting the kids (and myself) down for a nap and then went to my in-laws for a cook out that night. It was just perfect to say the least. Normally on any type of holiday or special occasion one child gets sick or refuses a nap and is a bear the entire day. Maybe we are turning a corner or maybe it was a fluke. Either way I'll take it!!

I also got flowers, greaters ice cream and Kate spade earrings. I'm so Lucky to be these two wild and crazy kids mom!! Thanks for a wonderful Mother's Day Ryan, Aiden and Ava!!

Derby weekend

We have had a great weekend! Busy but great! Today we are hanging at home cleaning and getting ready for the week a head.

Friday Ryan and I went to keeneland for the oaks. The weather was lovely and so was the company. I didn't take any pictures so I stole this one from saralyns Instagram!

Saturday we had a babysitter for part of the day and then picked up the kids for the rest and took them back to the party!

I had derby shirts made but apparently my kids don't like to take pictures. I can never get a good one!

Plus I was terrible at taking pictures this weekend.

Sunday morning aiden had to check out his garden. He just couldn't resist the one strawberry that was growing!!!

My mom also took the kids to my grandmothers to play outside today while I stayed home and cleaned. You can tell they love being outside and are having a blast!
