One year ago

One year ago this week Aiden was admitted to the hospital. Although we still don't have all the answers we are thankful he is now walking and starting to talk. We continue therapy three times a week and still have a long road a head of us but Aiden is doing great!

 

 

28 months

I feel like I'm always writing about Ava's monthly milestones so today I thought I would write about Aiden! 

You are 28 months. Wow time flies when your having fun!!

You are so much fun these days. Well let's say most days! Ha! Some days you do like to test your limits. 

1. You love to be outside. In fact you cry at night when we make you come inside. 

2. You adore all animals. 

3.  In fact I think you need to live on a farm. Too bad mommy hates the country.

 

4. You are a dare devil and nothing scares you. This scares mommy! 

5.  You are starting to talk more. You are probably up to around 50-60 words. I haven't been keeping track as often now that your talking more. 

6. You are in a swim class on Tuesdays. You love the water especially the slide. 

7.  You are obsessed with tractors. You wake up talking about tractors and you go to bed talking about tractors. 

8. You love your riding tractor. To my surprise you share it well with your friends. 

9.  Last Tuesday you put yourself in time out. It was hilarious. 

10. You are a daddy's boy. If daddy is around everyone else is chopped liver. 

11. Daddy has to give you a bath every night. If I come in the room you tell me to leave. 

12. The only other person who tops daddy is poppy. You love your poppy. 

13.  You have been in therapy for one year next month. In that year you have accomplished so much and we are so proud of you. 

14. You don't mind going to the doctor. In fact last time we went you put your arm on the table expecting them to draw blood. Looks like you are used to testing.

 

15.  You hate to brush your teeth. What do I do about this? 

16. You love to FaceTime. We like to face time aunt GiGi (Angie) and Aunt boo boo (Sarah) at least three times a week. That way they can still see you grow up even if it is over the phone. 

17. You love the beach and can't wait to take you back in august. 

18. You love all your friends especially Bryleigh. You say her name all day long. And you two really get along well. 

19. You are starting to watch a little tv. Not much and in fact I wish you would so I could get some things done. Ha!

20. Your favorite right now is Mickey Mouse clubhouse and polar express. 

21.  You also love trains. It's so cute. You can spot a train, tractor and lawn mower from far away. 

22.  When you see a train you yell "choo choo" I love it! 

23.  You love all fruits 

24. You aren't big on veggies. It's very hard to get you to eat them. 

25. You also aren't a big meat eater. But you def love carbs! 

26. You adore Ava and it's so cute. 

27. You have to kiss her good night every single night. 

28. You have such and big heart 

Aiden mommy and daddy love you so much.

6 months

Ava is half a year old. Can you believe it. That means I haven't slept for half of a year! Ha! 

You are such a happy baby. You still rarely cry. Only when hungry or tired. 

You are drooling like crazy but still only have two teeth. 

You still don't sleep well and wake up at least once to eat. You don't cry after your bottle you just talk. 

You are very easy to put to sleep you just don't stay alseep. Are you seeing that sleep isn't that important to her but kind of is to me!

You roll over from back to belly and belly to back. 

You talk and laugh all the time. Especially at your big brother 

You can sit up for a couple of seconds before falling over. 

You have tried apples and sweet potato 

Happy 6 month birthday baby girl. 

Ava's Baptism

Today was a very special day. Not only was Ava baptized she also wore the gown my grandmother hand knitted 32 years ago for my baptism in the exact same church. The dress was also worn by my sisters when they were baptized. Hopefully one day I will have nieces that will also get to wear it! 

My grandfather was the presiding elder. It means so much to have him there and to be apart of this special day! 

Ava was getting very tired right before and I just knew she needed to go to sleep. She actually fell asleep sitting in my lap and didn't wake up when the preacher took her from me, poured water on her head and walked her around the sanctuary.  He said that was the first. Everyone afterwards was so amazed at now good she is!  It was pretty funny! 

Aiden also had a small part to play.  About a week ago our pastor called me to talk about the happenings of the day and to go over the final details. He was unaware of Aidens speech delay and asked if he could give Aiden something to say during the service. I explained that he wouldn't be able to do that and why. He then said he could just ask him a question and all Aiden would have to do is say "yes". I kind of chuckled a bit because not only can he not say the word yes but his favorite word right now is "no". I just knew that when the preacher asked him "will you teach your little sister about Jesus" he would respond "no"! Luckily that didn't happen. Aiden did so great and shook his head yes and said "uh huh". We are so proud of him! He is one awesome big brother! 

I'm so mad at myself for not getting any pictures of Aiden today. He probably wouldn't have sat still anyway! 

My mom has a picture of me laying on this blanket in this dress outside in the same front yard! I love it!! 

That's good stuff mom

Ava is finally starting to eat baby food. We started a few weeks ago and she is just now starting to like it. We've only tried apples and sweet potatoes. So far sweet potatoes win the prize! She ate them up and cried when I stopped feeding her! 

Geez she is so cute!! 

Easter 2014

We had a wonderful Easter. My sister Angie got to come home. The only thing that would have made it better would have been to have my sister Sarah here. I hate that she only gets to see my kids a couple times a year. We can't wait to see her in august at the beach!!

Easter egg hunt

This last weekend we took Aiden to his first Easter Egg Hunt! He had a blast. 

Ava had fun watching brother hunt eggs and play games 

Later that day we took him to thunder over Louisville. We just went to the air show and didn't have to fight any crowds. Having tickets to the Humana garage is the way to go! Next year maybe we can go without kids and stay later! 

5 months

Ava is 5 months old (plus a few weeks). Where does time go? 

You rolled over today from back to stomach. I was starting to get worried because you had not met this milestone yet. I tend to get nervous if milestones aren't met after what we've gone through with Aiden. 

You are barely putting weight in legs. I'll be talking to Dr. White at the next appt about this. 

You smile all the time and are starting to recognize people like mommy, daddy, Aiden and nanny! 

You can bring objects to your mouth 

You love your play mat

You can sit up with the support of a pillow 

We tried cereal last month but you weren't interested so we waited. We tried it again tonight and you really aren't interested again. We will see how that goes over the next couple of days. 

You don't sleep through the night and still get up to eat at least one time. Ugh 

You don't really like your bed as much as mommy and daddy's bed. 

You still have choking incidents and it scares me to death each time. I keep a suction bulb near me at all times. 

You are a very happy baby and rarely cry. 

The only time you do cry is at night around 6-7 or if you are tired, hungry or want to be held. 

You are such a joy and mommy and daddy love having a daughter! 

Beach bums

We had an amazing vacation at the beach last week. We really needed it after the year we've had! 

Get ready for picture overload 

These two had a blast together. It was so nice to have a friend for Aiden the play with.
